pine cove

i'm off to pine cove today. i'm torn between leaving allison, my friends and my family and having a blast at camp. i'm for sure going to miss playing show with luke and andy, but i think we can sneak a few in every now and then. also i'll be leading praise and worship everyday for around 250 middle schoolers, so that should take care of any itch i have to play. i'm pumped. well, have a great summer and i'll try and post in a few months. adios-

don't get mad

here's the thing. i have somewhat of a problem with the churches in america today. here are 2 reasons.
1. since we have the freedom of religion, i believe that sometimes we put churches places just because we can, without the fear of a monarchy persecuting us.
2. i think that a lot of "big" churches think the bigger they are, the more successful, when in actuallity, half the church doesn't know the other half, and most of the members have never even met the preacher. this does not bode well for me. where is the accountability? where is the unity?
i don't mean to offend anyone, but this is how i feel. i wrote this song trying to convey some of these thoughts, and i'm sorry in advance.

empty lot on the corner
and this town needs more of Him
make the calls and wake the neighbors
let's build a church b/c we can

cause we won't be persecuted
with thousands here we will be strong
no fear of kings or molestation
with all this favor, how can we be wrong?

lonely sinner on the corner
how can we appeal to them?
play some games and sell some t-shirts
say just what they want to hear

cause we won't be outdated
we'll dance and sing a nice pop song
no fear of show or enculturation
with all this glamour, how can we be wrong?

cause we won't be out numbered
our role sheet stretches 2 miles long
no fear of lack of participation
with all these members, how could we be wrong?

so there it is. again, i'm sorry if i offend you with this. i assure you that is not my agenda. but, i do believe this is a message i am/we as a band are called to deliver. with the music luke and i have been writing lately, it seems we may be pissing a lot of people off in the near future. just hear us out, and perhaps you'll understand where we're coming from. thanks.
