pet sounds

i love the beach boys. love them. i've always liked them, but a few months ago when i got pet sounds i fell in love with them. amazing. brian wilson is an insane genius. i don't have time to break down all the reasons i love it right now, but i fully plan on doing that shortly. right now i have to go let my dog out.

Hiatus

wow, i actually went almost a year and a half of not posting. so much has happened in this past year and a half. let's have somewhat of a recap, shall we? here we go:

in march i finally worked up the nerve to drive to allison's school and profess my love for her after not speaking with her for four months. she thought about it for a month and we talked and hung out and then she told me that she loved me and wanted to be with me again. that was one of the best days of the year by far. i got a new/used car because my truck started falling apart in may. i left my job at trinity bible church due to a lack of funding on their part in september. i was very hurt through this process, but took some very good friends along with me out of the process. i moved to dallas on sept. 1st in with a buddy from college and a guy i'd never met before. it was great. i loved living there. in october i went out with luke on a two man poor rich folk tour to missouri, illinois, michigan, ohio, tennessee and a few other random places along the way. we were gone for two weeks, playing almost every night. it was incredible. on november 10th i asked allison to marry me and she said yes. we went and ate freebird's afterwards. i left the next day to go to nashville and record another cd with poor rich folk. we recorded at the studio jars records at frequently. we even had dan (the lead singer of jars) sing back up on one of our songs. andrew osenga (who replaced derek webb in caedmons call) played electrics and maggie bolger (judd and maggie) sang on two songs. it was one of the greatest weeks of my life. i couldn't do the band for a job anymore after a while and finally had to get a job. my friend jeremy was working as a job recruiter and got me an interview with mercer, a human resources outsourcing company. i started the day after christmas. ugh. we became members of the village in march and i started playing electric in the band there about once a month starting in april. poor rich folk also released that second cd on april 24th. we had the cd release party at the ridglea theater and actually filled it up pretty well. it was fun. i moved into what would become mine and allison's apartment in mid may. it's right across the street from my work. sometimes i walk, but sometimes it's too hot. i have a sweating problem. we got married on june 16th and went to puerto vallarta for a week afterwards. it was incredible. then i had to come back here. ugh. now i'm looking for any way i can get out of here and do something for the Kingdom. be it leading worship, playing for random people or what. i don't want to be stuck behind a computer all day long for much longer.

wow....that's a lot of information that probably no one will read. let's be honest....not many people will check my blog after a year and a half....i wouldn't.

church and coffee.

well...it's been a while. a LONG while, but here goes nothing.

as some of you know, i play in a band called poor rich folk. we put out our first cd (the first one we'll claim, at least) last may, and it just so happens we are STILL in debt from it. this is why we are embarking on a semi-tour kind of thing. we're calling it the "we owe marty money tour." why the name? i'll tell you. martin baird (sixpence none the richer, ben kweller) very graciously let us record our cd and pay him on the back end. we still owe him A LOT of money, so here's where YOU come in. if you are involved with any youth/college/young adult ministries at your church we would LOVE to help you guys out with your ministry. you can check us out online at:

www.myspace.com/poorrichfolk
www.purevolume.com/poorrichfolk

if nothing else...maybe you'd like to buy a cd? eh?

www.independentbands.com

thank you so much for any help you guys could offer in order for us to get this ministry off of the ground. as much as it sucks, ministry takes money to get on the streets. hope all is well with everyone.

back in the saddle...

well, here we are. another school year beginning, but this one ending sooner than normal. that's right folks, i'm peacin out of this mug in december. i'm not gonna lie. i'm pretty scared, but i know that the Lord is going to take care of everything. i'm actually having lunch with tim taylor, the executive pastor at a church in aledo on sunday after service. we've been corresponding as of late and it seems we may be able to work something out for a job and still have a lot of freedom for poor rich folk things. should be good times. well, i'll post on classes soon after i get a feel of how they're going to kick my butt. until then, take care.

pine cove

i'm off to pine cove today. i'm torn between leaving allison, my friends and my family and having a blast at camp. i'm for sure going to miss playing show with luke and andy, but i think we can sneak a few in every now and then. also i'll be leading praise and worship everyday for around 250 middle schoolers, so that should take care of any itch i have to play. i'm pumped. well, have a great summer and i'll try and post in a few months. adios-
